Gary Barlow, who co-wrote the music and lyrics to Finding Neverland, has some good news for his legion of fans at home in the U.K. in regards to the Broadway.com Audience Choice Award-winning musical. “It has to come to London, they’re ready for it,” Barlow exclusively told Broadway.com. “Specifics we can’t say but it’s coming to London next year, 2016.”
Barlow, frontman to the internationally successful boy man band Take That (and British national treasure), is currently working on two more tuners—The Girls and Around the World in Eighty Days. Would he ever consider doing a Take That musical? “Actually, that’s my ultimate," Barlow revealed. "I would love to do a Take That musical. I really would. It’s for London though.”
This potential production obviously answers millions of thirty-something women’s prayers, for as all Take That fans know, the 2008 jukebox musical of the band's songs, Never Forget, was not something that the group endorsed.
Did Barlow's Take That bandmates endorse Finding Neverland on their recent visit? "I was quite nervous actually before it started because I really wanted them to like it," Barlow admitted. "They’re having a ball down there so I’m very proud.”
They "Believe," Mr. Barlow, as do we!
Finding Neverland is playing at Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre; The Girls will receive its world premiere at the U.K.’s Grand Theatre Leeds in November.
